Maestro Leonardo
Leonardo was born in the Shipibo community of San Francisco de Yarinacocha. At the age of 16 he went to live with his grandfather who was a curandero (healer) in a small community called Abujao. .
Leonardo drank ayahuasca with his grandfather every third day, and began to work with the sacred plant mapacho intensively. Under the guidance of his grandfather, Leonardo began his first dieta with piñon colorado. This dieta lasted 3 months. After completing his first dieta, he went on to diet piñon blanco for 3 months, and at the age of 18 he began to work with chiric sanango and toé.
